The closest white villageabout 22 km by road from Estepona town hall (11 km in a straight line)
- A white village hanging off a slope of the Sierra Bermeja, with a 13th-century castle at the top — now in partial ruins, with stretches of wall and the Alcázar tower still standing.
- Blas Infante, recognised by the Andalusian Parliament as the "father of the Andalusian homeland", was born on Calle Carrera: his birth house is now a museum.
Manilva / Sabinillas
The closest one, with a beach and wineriesabout 11 km by road to Sabinillas from Estepona town hall (9 km in a straight line)
- Sabinillas is Manilva's coastal hub: a seafront promenade, beach and the La Duquesa marina just steps away.
- Right by the sea stands the Castillo de la Duquesa, built in 1767 under Carlos III, on top of a Roman villa with baths, a necropolis and a fish-salting factory.
- Manilva is also home to the only Designation of Origin wine production of Málaga province, based on local moscatel grapes.
The village of Manilva itself, further inland, is a bit further (about 16 km).
Gibraltar
Another country, under an hour awayabout 48 km by road to the centre from Estepona town hall (36 km in a straight line)
- The Rock: 426 metres of Jurassic limestone, with a cable car and the Upper Rock Nature Reserve — St Michael's Cave and the 18th-century Great Siege Tunnels, reused during the Second World War.
- It's the only place in Europe with wild primates: around 230 Barbary macaques (Macaca sylvanus) live in the Reserve.

Marbella
Old town and Puerto Banúsabout 33 km by road from Estepona town hall (26 km in a straight line)
- The old town is built around Plaza de los Naranjos, laid out after the Castilian conquest of 1485, with a town hall dating from 1568.
- Puerto Banús opened in 1970, championed by Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe: a luxury marina with boutiques and restaurants right on the water.
Ronda
The Tajo gorge and the Puente Nuevoabout 65 km by road from Estepona town hall (35 km in a straight line)
- The Puente Nuevo bridges the Tajo, the gorge the Guadalevín river carved into the rock, 98 metres up. It took over 40 years to build, from 1751 to 1793, designed by the architect José Martín de Aldehuela.
- The same architect designed the bullring (1779-1785), one of the first built entirely in stone, seating around 5,000.
