Parking in Estepona

Five public car parks, one euro for the day and a handful of free areas worth knowing before you start driving in circles.

Leaving the car in Estepona is easier than it looks once you know where. This page gathers what the town council has published about its car park network, with the date of every figure — and without inventing what has not been published.

The thirteen places to leave the car in Estepona

Five paid municipal car parks and eight free surface areas. Tap one on the list to see it on the map, or the other way round. All are managed by the town council; the paid ones, through APRONA.

The town council puts its network at 2,300 spaces (announcements of August and December 2025) and speaks of «more than 2,000» in March 2026. The capacities it has published car park by car park add up to somewhat less than that overall figure.

The list of free areas comes from the mapping of the municipal parking plan, which does not state when it was last updated: use it to know where to look, not to assume there is room today. In August 2026 the council also announced new free spaces: Next to the bus station, around fifteen spaces on some 300 m²; Sierra Estepona, 98 spaces.

The old-town streets are narrow and largely pedestrian: the plan is to leave the car at the edge and walk in.

For the Felipe VI Auditorium or the fairground

Concert, fair or competition days. The council places the Athletics Stadium car park right there, and it is the largest in the network.

Distances are straight-line, from the published coordinates, so walking through streets always takes a little longer. Times are calculated at 4.8 km/h.

Rate published for Parking La Viña when it joined the municipal network, in August 2025. Before that, in private hands, 24 hours there cost 17 euros.

9:00 and 21:00 are rate bands, not opening hours

It is the easiest mistake to make. The very existence of a night rate means you can drive in at night. The council does not publish a closing time for the car parks.

If the municipal network does not suit you

Private parking in Estepona

Two private facilities, with no agreement with the town council: pricier than the municipal network's one euro a day, but without Plaza del Ajedrez's 250 resident-only spaces or the high-season queues. A useful plan B when the municipal network is full.

Four things worth knowing

Not textbook advice: each one comes from a specific fact in the municipal information and changes where you end up leaving the car.

At Plaza del Ajedrez, only half the spaces rotate

Of its 500 spaces, 250 are privately owned by registered residents. What is left for a visitor is the other 250, not the full five hundred.

Driving an electric car? Antonia Guerrero

It is the only one of the five where the town council describes electric charging points. It also happens to be the most central.

The free areas fill up early

They are open-air spaces, unreserved and unattended. In summer and on event days, better not to count on them as your only plan.

For a straight 24 hours, La Viña

It is the only facility with a published 24-hour rate: 3 euros since it joined the municipal network in August 2025. Before that, in private hands, it cost 17.

What is coming

The El Carmen car park, under construction

Near the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen an underground car park is being built, with three levels and more than 300 spaces. In March 2026 the town council reported that the structure was in its final stretch, with the concreting still to finish and the surroundings still to be laid out.

No opening date has been published, so you will not find an estimate here. There are other projects at different stages, among them La Lobilla, with some 390 spaces on three levels.

Common questions about parking in Estepona

In the municipal car parks, 1 euro for the day. The town council still quoted that rate in its March and April 2026 announcements. At night, between 21:00 and 9:00, the rate is 2 euros according to municipal information from December 2025.

Five in operation: Plaza Antonia Guerrero, Estadio de Atletismo, Plaza del Ajedrez, Edificio Consistorial and Parking La Viña. They are run by APRONA under an agreement with the town council.

The Plaza Antonia Guerrero car park is the most central: underground, three levels and 100 spaces, right in the historic centre. The Edificio Consistorial one, in the basement of the town hall, also leaves you walking distance from the centre.

Yes. The municipal parking plan includes free surface areas, among them Avenida Juan Carlos I, calle Celestino Prieto, calle Juan Bernabé Britto, Plaza San Fernando and the area around the marina. They are open-air spaces with no reservation: in high season they fill up early.

The one at the Estadio de Atletismo, north of town. When it opened in 2019 the town council described it as a two-level car park for close to a thousand vehicles, beneath the athletics track.

The town council does not publish a closing time. In fact there is a night rate, from 21:00 to 9:00. The 9:00 and 21:00 times that appear in municipal information are rate bands, not opening hours.

The Estadio de Atletismo car park is right there, north of town next to the Felipe VI Auditorium and the Parque Ferial y Deportivo. It is the largest in the network.

At Parking La Viña, on calle Melilla, the town council set a 3 euro rate for a vehicle staying 24 hours when it brought the car park into the municipal network in August 2025. That rate is published for La Viña; for the other car parks the available municipal information sets out the day and night rates.

Yes, two: Parking Zapallito (Av. España, 94, underground, near the old town, around €2.50/hour) and Parking Estepona Paseo Marítimo (Avenida Juan Carlos I, €2.40/hour or €17 for 24 hours, 200 spaces). Neither has an agreement with the town council: they cost more than the municipal network's one euro a day, but they are open 24 hours and do not have Plaza del Ajedrez's resident restrictions.

Yes. The El Carmen car park, near the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, will have more than 300 spaces on three underground levels; in March 2026 its structure was in the final stretch. The town council has not given an opening date. There are further projects at La Lobilla and in the centre.
