Gardens and urban nature
Orchid House, parks and green spaces in Estepona.
The Orchid House with over 5,000 orchids, six urban parks and Mediterranean gardens. All free, all walkable from the centre.
Estepona has spent decades caring for its green spaces. The result is visible on every street in the old town.
Before you go
The Orchid House is free and open access. The parks have no set hours. For the Orchid House, aim to visit before midday in high season to avoid groups. The old town, which concentrates most of the green spaces, is entirely pedestrian.
Botanical garden · Free entry
Estepona Orchid House
Over 5,000 orchid specimens under a glass dome. The structure acts as a greenhouse: warm inside even on cooler days. Free entry. Located on Avenida de España, on the northern edge of the old town.
One of the most visited spaces in Estepona. Works well combined with a morning walk through the old town.
Mediterranean garden · Next to the Orchid House
Carmen Thyssen Gardens
A Mediterranean garden adjoining the Orchid House, with plants and flowers typical of the Andalusian coast. A place to pass through and pause. Both gardens share the same area on Avenida de España.
Free access. Together with the Orchid House they form a green reference point at the northern edge of the old town.
Historic centre · Green zone
Calvario Park
An urban park in the historic centre with the statue of Juana Luna: the midwife who for decades rode around Estepona on her Vespa to attend births in the neighbourhood. The council dedicated a monument to her in the same park where she used to spend time.
The statue of Juana Luna is one of the few monuments in the city dedicated to an everyday trade and a local woman.
Town centre · Tree-lined area
Parque de la Constitución
The most central park in Estepona, well wooded with rest areas. A meeting point between the historic centre and the residential neighbourhoods to the north. It works as a green pause between the town-centre traffic and the slower pace of the old town.
Direct access from the town centre. Useful as an orientation point before entering the old town.
Between the old town and the seafront
Huerta Nueva Park
A park with good shade on the stretch between the old town and the seafront promenade. A tree-lined zone for a rest stop, away from traffic noise. It serves as a transition point if you are walking from the centre to the beach.
Well situated for a pause if you are heading from the old town down to the sea on foot.
Coast · By the Carmen Viewpoint
Carmen Park
A green park next to the Carmen Viewpoint, with direct access to the coast. A rest point between the seafront promenade and the town centre. From here you can head straight down to the shoreline or climb back up towards the old town.
A good pause point if you are walking the seafront promenade from east to west.
