This edition took place in 2026. The event is held every year in Estepona.Every summer — in 2026, from 7 to 16 August (confirmed).

Every August, Estepona's seafront promenade hosts the World Ham Contest "Popi, Ciudad de Estepona", one of the most important food events on the Costa del Sol.

The event brings together exhibitors, professional ham cutters, tastings of Iberian ham and Andalusian products, and free concerts every night. The 2026 edition announces 65 exhibitors and dishes and drinks from €5; in 2025 more than 200 professional ham cutters took part, with attendance expected to exceed 500,000 visits.

The site opens daily from 7 pm to 2 am. The music side has its own name in the official programme: the Jamón Music Festival, ten free concerts on the seafront stage, one each night at 11:30 pm.

The event is declared a Festival and Event of Tourist Interest in Andalusia, and is one of the most popular summer plans in Estepona for locals and visitors.

One of the most important gastronomic events on the Andalusian coast. The World Ham Contest turns Estepona's seafront promenade into a tasting, cultural and music venue during ten August evenings.

The event

A major food event by the sea

The World Ham Contest "Popi, Ciudad de Estepona" celebrates one of Spain's most iconic gastronomic products: Iberian ham. For ten summer nights, the seafront promenade becomes a festive food space with exhibitors, professional ham cutters, tastings, Andalusian products and free concerts.

The experience

What a night at the contest looks like

No booking, no ticket: you turn up, walk the promenade and pick your stall. Here's how the night unfolds, start to finish.

  1. The site opens

The promenade fills with exhibitors: Iberian ham, cheeses, artisan breads and Andalusian produce. It's quiet early on — good for browsing without queues.

  2. The carvers take over

More than two hundred professionals carving by knife. You can watch up close, and you learn by watching: the thin slice, the angle, the steady hand.

  3. The plate of ham

From five euros. Sit facing the sea with a plate and a drink, once the heat of the day has dropped.

  4. The concert

A different band every night, live and free, with the sea behind the stage. Ten nights, ten line-ups.

  5. And the next day, all over again

From 7 to 16 August, ten nights in a row on the seafront promenade.

The site opens from 7pm to 2am and the concert starts at 11:30pm. Everything else runs without a fixed schedule — the night sets its own pace.
