Estepona Marathon — Garden of the Costa del Sol
Estepona runs its first marathon. Start at 8:30 am from the municipal athletics stadium and a course that hugs the sea along the coastal path, with a half marathon on the same morning.
On Sunday 11 October 2026, at 8:30 am, Estepona holds the first marathon in its history. Start and finish at the Municipal Athletics Stadium, and two distances to choose from: the full 42.195 km or the half marathon.
The course uses much of the coastal path, so you run beside the sea almost the whole way. It is flat and fast — unusual on the Costa del Sol — with sea views for practically the entire race.
The organisers have capped this first edition at 2,000 runners: a small-format marathon, designed to avoid the crowds. By late July more than 1,000 people from over fifty nationalities had already signed up.
Entry costs €60 for the marathon and €35 for the half, booked online.
October is probably the best month of the year to run in Estepona: the sea is still warm, the heat has eased and the early morning light on the coast is what it is. Even if you are not running, it is worth walking down to the promenade to watch.
