Gran Slam Evolution 2.0
Martial arts night at the Palacio de Congresos: kyokushin karate, jiu-jitsu, muay thai, K-1 and caged MMA, with around 140 fighters and seven professional titles at stake. Saturday 3 October, doors at 5:00 pm.
On Saturday 3 October the Gran Slam Costa del Sol returns to Estepona in a special Evolution 2.0 edition: a journey through the evolution of martial arts up to today, with kyokushin karate, jiu-jitsu, muay thai and K-1 bouts, plus MMA, fought entirely in a cage this year.
Around 140 fighters take part, from all over Spain and from Morocco, England, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Colombia and Brazil. Seven professional titles are at stake, including two Andalusian championships and a Slam Series world title between European champion Kristof, from Poland, and reigning world champion Fabio Medina, from Portugal. The local name to follow: Lobato, from Club K-9 Estepona, who fights for one of the Andalusian titles.
Doors open at 5:00 pm. The amateur gala starts at 5:30 pm and the professional gala at 7:30 pm, opening with a kata exhibition by Estepona's Escuela Ruiz Dojo and followed by fifteen bouts.
Tickets from €25 in advance at Estepona's partner clubs and €30 at the door on the day. There is a bar and a VIP table area with dinner and drinks, which must be booked.
A different Saturday evening plan: gala atmosphere, local clubs in the stands and a cage in the middle of the Palacio de Congresos.
