Peñas flamencas are where flamenco is still heard the way it was before tablaos for tourists existed: sitting down, in silence, with the performer a few metres away.
Estepona's Peña Flamenca stages a full night on 31 July at 9:30 pm, with Rocío López singing, Vanesa Ramírez and Curro Román dancing and José Fernández on guitar.
Capacity is small and booking is advisable. It is not a show designed for visitors, and that is precisely why it is worth going.
Peña flamenco, not tablao flamenco: no staging for tourists and an audience that knows when to stay quiet and when to call out.
